Ready for the next phase of their lives, Deb & Joel left their family home in Naperville behind for the ease of condo living. They happily traded their roomy 5 bedroom home for a spacious condo with a great room and 2 bedrooms. After initial consulting & space planning , the unanimous decision was made to design a Great Room for living, fresh with a remodeled kitchen.
The existing Great Room had “Great Bones” with wood floors, custom moldings & custom window treatments. The kitchen was basic builder’s cabinets, designed without maximizing the potential of the kitchen.
A beautiful painting of tiger, “The Whole Road” served as a “Muse” for the color scheme and design of the Great Room. The transitional, clean lined cabinets finished in a warm carmel color contrasting with an expresso finish on the island anchored the kitchen in the space. The Cambria warm counter tops and glass mosiacs pull the materials together.
Upper cabinets with lighting create display for treasured art pieces. Expresso finish on the island and crown anchor the dry bar area to the kitchen.
The contrasting expresso finish on the island, crown and dry bar adds a distinctive contrast in the color scheme. The two tier bar counters hides the prep and clean up area from view of the great room. The island redesign maintained the existing plumbing, while enhancing storage and funtion.
